UPDATE: The woman has now been identified, UCSF said.

UCSF Health is seeking assistance from the public with identifying a mystery patient in its hospital.

The patient was brought by ambulance to UCSF Medical Center in San Francisco on the afternoon of Jan. 31, after being picked up at Wooden Coffeehouse at 862 Cole St.

She is a 35-year-old female with caramel-colored skin, brown eyes and natural black curly hair with some gray strands. She is 5-9 tall and weighs about 160 pounds, UCSF said.

UCSF said she has distinctive tattoos on her arm, wrist, neck and back, a pierced right nostril and a significant scar on her neck that appears to be from a burn or car accident. The scar interrupts a large tattoo on the left side of her neck.

"The patient is well groomed and showered, with freshly applied makeup, and was carrying a backpack with multiple sets of clothing," a UCSF email statement said. "She is unable to provide reliable information about her name or address, and has expressed hope that someone will recognize her and be able to help."
