A fatal crash in the westbound direction of the Bay Bridge near the on-ramp at Treasure Island Road reportedly killed two people late Wednesday night.

Officers responded to an 11:13 p.m. report of a collision between a car and an SUV, and eight minutes later, a second collision was reported involving a vehicle rear-ending a big-rig truck.

All lanes were blocked, and the coroner was called to the scene at 12:04 a.m.

Two people were killed and Bay Bridge traffic was backed up into the wee hours, the California Highway Patrol told ABC7 News (opens in new tab). Authorities told the network that a suspect was taken into custody.
