A 15-year-old boy was shot and killed Thursday night in the Fillmore District, according to the San Francisco Police Department. Officers responded to a report of a shooting on Eddy Street at 7:19 p.m., where they found the teenager suffering from a gunshot wound.

First responders and officers attempted to help the victim, who was later transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The victim was declared dead at the hospital.

Police say the officers are investigating the incident as a homicide. There have now been 18 homicides in San Francisco this year, according to a police spokesperson Friday.

Police did not release the name of the victim, who is a minor.
