A man was shot and killed Friday evening in the Tenderloin, according to police.

Officers responded at 6:11 p.m. to Golden Gate Avenue near Hyde Street and found a man with an apparent gunshot wound, San Francisco police confirmed to The Standard.

Although officers rendered medical aid, the man was pronounced dead on the spot.

Witnesses told investigators that a suspect fled the scene, SFPD added, but that no one was able to identify the person.

The Friday evening homicide marks the Tenderloin’s fourth to date in 2023, according to police data. By this time last year, the department tallied six killings in the neighborhood.

SFPD urges anyone with information on the shooting to call its anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444.
