San Francisco police arrested a man in Daly City on suspicion of murder in a fatal Mission District stabbing, authorities said Tuesday.

Jose Hernandez, 25, was arrested after investigators identified him as the suspect in the stabbing death of Valentin Hernandez Santillan, 42, of San Francisco.

Authorities have not said which day they arrested Hernandez. He was arrested in Daly City and taken to SF County Jail where he was booked on charges of murder and assault and battery, police said. He does not yet appear in the sheriff’s online inmate locator.

Hernandez is alleged to have stabbed Santillan at around 4 a.m. in the area near 24th and Mission streets on Sunday, police said.

When officers arrived, they found two victims suffering from stab wounds. Santillan was rushed to a hospital but was later pronounced dead, while the other victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
