A teenage girl was sexually assaulted by a man in a bathroom at Crocker Amazon Park on Thursday night, police said.

The victim was transported to the hospital after police and medics responded to the incident at 7:15 p.m.

Officers could not find the suspect after a search, a San Francisco Police Department spokesperson said.

Supervisor Ahsha Safaí, whose district includes Crocker Amazon Park, told The Standard he was informed of the incident and is working to increase the presence of police and park rangers in the area.

"We are committed to doing everything we can to ensure people feel safe when visiting and utilizing our parks," Safaí said. "There is no place for brazen crime in our city."

A spokesperson for the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department said it is aware of this incident.
