Around 875 households in San Francisco’s Chinatown and Nob Hill neighborhoods were left without power for hours Friday afternoon, according to PG&E.

By 4:07 p.m., a spokesperson for the utility giant said power had been restored to all but four customers.

Local supervisor Aaron Peskin posted on X at 2:44 p.m. Friday that the utility company was on the scene and working to restore service to impacted customers.

A PG&E spokesperson said the outage began around 1:20 p.m.

PG&E’s power outage map showed structures near Pine Street between Larkin and Taylor streets were without power for a few hours.

Peskin said that he got a call from a constituent in Jackson Square about lost power around 2:23 p.m., indicating the outage extended beyond Chinatown and Nob Hill.

“I’ve been to this rodeo before,” Peskin said. “Immediate concerns are food spoilage and lost business revenue on a Friday night.”

PG&E originally estimated that the power would be restored by 11:30 p.m. and that it aimed “to restore power as safely and quickly as possible.”
