The San Francisco Public Library has teamed up with the San Francisco 49ers for a project that will score major points for football-loving bibliophiles: a Niners-themed library card.
The new design—which is available now at any branch of the public library—features a 49er player clutching a football with the city skyline in the background.
“The Niners have been an integral part of Bay Area pride for almost 80 years, and we’re excited to bring this card to the fans in our community,” wrote City Librarian Michael Lambert in a statement.
The SFPL is hoping for a conversion, turning NFL fans into card-toting library regulars. Already have a library card but still want in on the fun? Fans can swap their current card for this one.
While the public library has offered Giants and Warriors library cards before—with the latter currently out of stock—this is the first time a Niners-specific one is available.

An SFPL card grants access to much more than books: Streaming, tutoring, museum passes, newspaper subscriptions and digital resources are also available.
All California residents are eligible for a card, and fans need to present a valid photo ID in person at any SFPL location (opens in new tab) for a card.
