If you still need health insurance for 2024, this Sunday is the deadline to sign up to get coverage for the whole year through California’s marketplace.

Californians can still apply for health insurance via Covered California until Jan. 31, 2024, for coverage starting in February, but to ensure coverage in January, you’ll need to select a plan by Dec. 31. All California residents, including undocumented immigrants, are eligible to enroll through the state program.

On Wednesday, Covered California announced that 161,670 people have signed up for 2024 coverage—an 18% increase over the same period last year—and another 1,571,559 Californians have renewed their health plans as of Dec. 23.

“The robust enrollment we have seen so far highlights how much Californians value affordable health care coverage,” Covered California Executive Director Jessica Altman said in a statement. “California has strived to make health insurance more affordable for more people, and it is vital for the remaining uninsured in the state to look into their options before the end of the year and sign up.”

According to the state, nearly 90% of enrollees receive state or federal financial aid, and two-thirds are eligible for plans that cost them $10 or less a month.

People can see whether they qualify for financial assistance and learn about their plan options at CoveredCA.com. Residents can also call 800-300-1506 to speak with an agent about enrollment.
