Ultra-low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines announced Tuesday it will begin daily nonstop flights between Los Angeles and San Francisco airports. To celebrate, the airline launched a three-day sale with tickets for just $19 one way starting April 10.

Frontier's three-day sale includes $19 fares available on all new and existing routes out of San Francisco booked by Thursday. The cheap fares are good for travel through June 5.

The new route is part of a major expansion at San Francisco International Airport (SFO), where Frontier will also launch daily service to San Diego, Salt Lake City, and Portland, Oregon, in April. Fares on those routes will also start at $19 each way for the sale's duration.

However, the following blackout dates apply: Feb. 8-12, 15-16, 19-20, 2024; March 1-4, 7-11, 14-18, 21-25, 28-31, 2024; April 1-2, 4-7, 15, 18-21, 2024; May 24-27, 2024. Not all markets are available for all dates of travel. A 14-day advance purchase is required. A round-trip purchase is not required.

Frontier says the new flights will give Bay Area travelers more affordable options on underserved and overpriced routes out of SFO. The airline touts its “low fares done right” approach and is known for offering rock-bottom base fares with add-on fees for advance seat assignments, carry-on bags, etc.

With the San Francisco expansion, Frontier will serve 12 destinations out of SFO, including existing service to Denver, Las Vegas, Phoenix and other cities. The airline has focused recent growth on the West Coast while cementing Denver as a central hub.
