This New Amazon Show Follows a 13-Foot Black Man Through Oakland

One of Oakland's most acclaimed artists took to Twitter this afternoon to tease his latest project. I'm a Virgo is a forthcoming Amazon streaming series from Boots Riley, director of Sorry To Bother You and the lead vocalist of The Coup.

Featuring performances from actors Jharrel Jerome, Mike Epps, Walton Goggins, Brett Gray, Carmen Ejogo, Olivia Washington, Kara Young and Allius Barnes, the show will reportedly revolve around a 13-foot-tall Black man who lives in Oakland. It will also feature a score by Oakland indie group Tune-Yards. You can watch the teaser trailer below.

The "dark" and "absurd" show—is there any other kind of Riley joint?—was first announced back in the summer of 2020. Riley wrote that the show is set to premiere at SXSW in Austin this month.
