Barebottle Brewing Company plans to open a massive beer garden at Salesforce Park around Dec. 22. The open-air pub will span the entirety of the park’s main plaza.
The forthcoming SoMa beer garden will offer 20 different craft brews on draft, along with four biodynamic California wines that Barebottle vints in house. The food menu will include empanadas from Venga, which currently operates both in the Mission District and at the Salesforce Transit Center. Like any proper biergarten, Barebottle also plans to serve Bavarian pretzels.
Though the grand opening is scheduled only days before Christmas, Barebottle co-founder and CEO Michael Seitz said he doesn’t see foot-traffic at Salesforce Park being an issue in the near future. In fact, Seitz and his crew are no strangers to inopportune timing. They opened Barebottle’s second location in Santa Clara about seven weeks before Covid struck, yet it’s become a mainstay of the Silicon Valley craft beer scene. Barebottle debuted in Bernal Heights a little over six years ago.
Salesforce Park, a four-city block long rooftop refuge that tops the Salesforce Transit Center, took more than 10 years and $2 billion dollars to bring to fruition. Seitz said the park is incredible—”an undiscovered jewel in San Francisco”—but that it currently lacks some amenities. With the new beer garden, he hopes to change that.
The whole park will eventually be permitted for beer and wine consumption, meaning that patrons will be able to stroll around the grounds, ale in hand.
“It’s tremendous,” Seitz said. “I’m really excited about this opening.”
