A popular gastropub in the heart of the Tenderloin is set to close its doors forever this October.
Mikkeller Bar San Francisco was the second to open in the U.S. from the Danish brewer.
"That place means something very special to us, and it is of course very sad to have to say goodbye. But we will still be present in the U.S. and continuously strive to make great beer and great experiences, ” founder Mikkel Bjergsø wrote in a press release on the company's website.
The Mason Street bar will be closed by the second week of October. It hosted many events and guests through the years with constant rotating draft beers from around the world.
Its owners say it had seen many iterations and renovations transforming the former nightclub with various design elements from the Mikkeller creative team.
Mikkeller Bar San Francisco was one of three remaining Mikkeller locations in California, now to be succeeded by the Tasting Room in the Little Italy neighborhood of Downtown San Diego.
Mikkeller San Diego will continue to produce, release and distribute beer globally from AleSmith Brewing Company.
