A man and woman have been shot and killed in a Bayview home by a 23-year-old family member, San Francisco police said.

SFPD officers responded to a call for shots fired and a welfare check at 2:45 a.m. Saturday on the 1100 block of Ingerson Avenue and found the victims, a 47-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman, suffering from gunshot wounds.

Officers at the scene gave medical aid and called medics who transported the victims to the hospital for life-threatening injuries. The victims were pronounced dead at the hospital despite attempts to save their lives.

SFPD homicide detectives responded to the scene and took over the investigation in the Bret Harte neighborhood

During the investigation, officers detained a relative of the victims at the scene who was identified as the possible suspect, SFPD said in a press release.

Investigators developed probable cause to arrest the man, Irvin Hernandez Flores, 23. Hernandez Flores was jailed on two counts of homicide, burglary and child endangerment.

While an arrest has been made, SFPD said the investigation remains open and active.
