Armed Catalytic Converter Thieves Flee in Speeding White Maserati, Police Say

Berkeley police said Thursday that two people suspected of trying to steal a catalytic converter pointed guns at a victim before speeding away in a luxury car.

The attempted theft happened at around 6:08 a.m. Thursday in the area of Bancroft Way and McGee Avenue in Berkeley.

The suspects brandished a long rifle and a handgun at the victim before quickly driving away from the scene in a white Maserati SUV, police said.

The suspects have not been located at this time, police said.

Berkeley Police did not respond to requests for additional comment.
