Man in Mickey Mouse necklace tries to rob San Francisco bank, police say

A male suspect wearing a Mickey Mouse necklace allegedly tried to rob a San Francisco bank Monday, police scanner audio said.

The suspect is said to have entered the Citibank at 25th Avenue and Geary Boulevard at around 11:15 a.m. and passed a note to the teller in an attempt to rob the bank, according to police scanner recordings on the Citizen crime reporting app.

The scanner audio describes the suspect as “wearing a red sweater with a distinctive Disneyland necklace with Mickey Mouse on it.”

The Richmond District Citibank branch confirmed to The Standard there was a robbery attempt on Monday morning but did not provide further details.

Neighboring businesses confirmed police officers were canvassing the area on Monday afternoon before 1 p.m.

“Officers arrived on the scene and met with an employee of the bank who stated that an unknown male handed her a note demanding money,” a San Francisco Police Department spokesperson said. “The employee did not comply with the suspect who fled the scene in an unknown direction. No arrest has been made at this time.”
