The San Francisco Pride Parade and Celebration returns this weekend with the theme “Looking Back and Moving Forward.”
The annual celebration of the LGBTQ+ community, now in its 53rd year, will take over Civic Center on Saturday and Sunday. Festivities will be capped off with Sunday’s Pride Parade that will run along Market Street from the Embarcadero to Civic Center.
Organizers expect nearly 1 million attendees and over 200 exhibitors, according to SF Pride. Both private and public transit may be affected through Tuesday.
The weekend’s biggest event is the parade, which starts Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and runs along Market Street from the Embarcadero to the celebration at Civic Center, around Eighth Street.
Cross streets along Market between Stewart and Eighth streets will be closed for the parade, according to the San Francsico Municipal Transportation Agency.
BART will offer extra service for the parade, running on five lines until 9 p.m. with special trains as added throughout the day running between Millbrae and Pleasant Hill through San Francisco.
