Police asked people to stay clear of Harrison and Beale streets on Tuesday as officers spent hours trying to talk down a man who walked onto the edge of a downtown San Francisco overpass.
Officers responded around 1:40 p.m. to the Harrison Street bridge, which crosses over Beale Street in the city’s Rincon Hill neighborhood, according to the San Francisco Police Department. Hours later, as of Tuesday evening, police said they were still “negotiating for a peaceful resolution.”
At 5:45 p.m., the man appeared to be calmly talking to police, who were still trying to convince him to come back from the ledge and onto the sidewalk.
