Sarah Holtz covers music and food for The Standard. She was born and raised in Oakland, and her work has been featured in the Nation, the Oaklandside, KALW, New Orleans Public Radio, Houston Public Media, Boston Public Radio and on NPR. Sarah also volunteers with Empowerment Avenue, a collective of writers who are incarcerated across the U.S. She studied history and French at Macalester College and audio at the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University. In her free time, she enjoys rowdy mosh pits and hamachi nigiri.
