The Noise Pop-produced 20th Street Block Party released its 2022 lineup Tuesday, announcing that it will return to the Mission District on Oct. 15.

Oakland-based punk outfit Destroy Boys is set to headline the free music festival, alongside San Francisco indie rockers Hot Flash Heat Wave, experimental electro crew The Seshen, genre-bending songwriter MARINERO and alternative/hip-hop/R&B shapeshifter Ricky Lake.

In addition to featuring a strong lineup of local artists, the two blocks on Valencia Street between 18th and 21st streets will also showcase Bay Area artists and chefs at an all-day shopping bazaar and marketplace.

This year’s festival also serves as a housewarming of sorts for Noise Pop Industries, which opened a new office on Valencia Street after pandemic pressures forced the group from their Bryant Street headquarters in the summer of 2020—a home they occupied for 12 years.

In a press release, Noise Pop President Stacy Horne emphasized the importance of the festival as a neighborhood anchor. The “20th Street Block Party has always been about lifting up the iconic Mission District area,” she said. “I can’t imagine a better way to support our fellow Mission District neighbors while spending a lovely day outdoors in one of the most vibrant and culturally rich communities in the entire country.”

To that end, a portion of the proceeds will benefit two organizations in the Mission—educational nonprofit 826 Valencia and culinary incubator and mentorship program La Cocina

Local vendors still have time to get in on the action. Noise Pop has put out an open call to Bay Area business owners to apply by Aug. 31 to sell their wares at the festival.

Noise Pop began as a small music festival in 1993 and has grown to become the oldest locally operated indie music and art events promoter in San Francisco.

Admission to the block party is still free, but guests will have to register in advance on the event website.
