Though Tahoe homeowners might be weary of the second-snowiest season on record, skiers are cheering this year’s extra-long season.

With some runs still caked by more than 200 inches of snow in late March, many Sierras ski resorts will stay open much later than usual. Palisades Tahoe will offer skiing through May and at its Alpine Meadows location on weekends through July 4. And Mammoth Mountain now says it will remain open every day in July!

Check the table below for the latest snowfall and closing dates.

Even better news? The 2023-24 Ikon Pass went on sale last week. The pass is one of the best ways for skiers to save on the skiing at Palisades, Mammoth and other resorts around the western U.S. and the world. The pass provides huge savings on daily lift tickets, which ran more than $200 per day this season.

And since this year’s ski season will last into July, Ikon Pass holders for 2023-24 can ski Palisades and Mammoth starting on April 10 and continue schussing through the 2024 season.

Sierra-at-Tahoe’s 2023-24 passes are also already on sale and can be used this spring. Alternatively, the mountain south of Lake Tahoe has a special pass available for spring skiing alone.

The 2023-24 Epic Pass for deals on skiing at Northstar, Kirkwood and Heavenly is also on sale now but is not valid for this year’s spring skiing.

Homewood will close as scheduled in mid-April in order to install a new gondola in time for next season.
