Led by MVP Stephen Curry, the Golden State Warriors took home their fourth NBA championship in less than a decade—defeating the Boston Celtics on the road, 103-90, and further cementing their status as one of the greatest basketball teams in the history of the sport.

After keeping fans of both clubs on the edge of their seats by splitting the first four games of the series, the Dubs won three consecutive bouts with the Celtics, a storied franchise in their own right.

It is the Warriors seventh league title in franchise history and the fourth of the Steph Curry era. But while Curry can now cover four fingers on his golden shooting hand with a championship ring, tonight marked a first for the team’s star point guard. After his team was presented with their trophy, Curry was named MVP of the series—an honor that previously eluded him.

Tonight’s victory was not a foregone conclusion. Boston started the game strong. After securing a 12-point lead early in the first quarter, they appeared ready and able to force Game 7. But the Warriors quickly regained control of the game, going on an 11-point run and ending the first quarter up by 5. They never relinquished control.

In addition to Curry’s 34 points, other marquee players turned in memorable performances, with Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole making key drives and Draymond Green draining a pair of shots from beyond the arc.
