Car Crashes Through San Francisco Storefront in Burglary Attempt

A car drove through the front entrance of a Lids store in Fisherman's Wharf in an attempted burglary early Monday morning, according to San Francisco police.

Police responded to a call about a burglary in progress in the area of Jefferson and Jones streets at 3:36 a.m. Officers located a sedan at the scene, but the suspects had fled before officers arrived, police said.

A photo posted to Reddit Monday showed the entrance caved in with shattered glass littering the sidewalk. Police tape can be seen in the photo as well.

By later in the afternoon, the storefront had been boarded up with a sign reading "closed" on a front door.

Lids has seven San Francisco locations and sells sports jerseys, hats, shirts and other clothing.

Lids representatives and the Lids store owner did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
