A person was shot dead in the city’s SoMa neighborhood early Sunday morning, San Francisco police announced on Monday.
Officers from the Southern police station responded to Fifth and Shipley streets to a report of a shooting at about 4:35 a.m.
Officers found a victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and gave medical aid. They also summoned medics to the scene. But despite the lifesaving efforts of the emergency responders, the victim succumbed to their injuries and was declared dead on the scene, police said.
The victim has been identified by the Medical Examiner’s Office as Lesther Sierra, 24, of Contra Costa County.
SFPD Homicide Detail said its investigation determined that the shooting occurred on Folsom Street between Fifth and Sixth streets. Investigators said the victim fled from the scene in a vehicle where it came to rest at Fifth and Shipley.
No arrest has been made and the investigation remains active, police said.
