A 37-year-old Concord man was shot and killed outside an East Bay bar early Monday, according to Pleasant Hill police chief Scott Vermillion.
Police received reports of a shooting near Farrington's, a sports bar at the Pleasant Hill Plaza Shopping Center on Contra Costa Boulevard, at 1:12 a.m. Police responded three minutes later, according to Vermillion.
Shortly after 1 a.m., several people exited the bar and began arguing, with some pushing happening before someone pulled out a gun and shot the victim once in the head, according to Vermillion.
Responding officers found the victim on the ground and pronounced him dead on the scene.
Vermillion said there is no threat to the general public, as the shooting was a dispute "between associates," but did not elaborate on the relationship between the suspect and the victim.
Police did not release additional information, saying the shooting is still under investigation.
The deadly shooting marks Pleasant Hill's first homicide since August 2021. There was a shooting in December, but that victim is still in the hospital, Vermillion said.
Farrington's did not respond to requests for comment.
