Sheriff: Man sexually assaulted woman at Bay Area beach

The suspect is wanted on three charges, including sexual penetration with force, sexual battery by restraint and false imprisonment.

Authorities are searching for a man with a “beer belly” who sexually assaulted a woman near a beach, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said.

The woman was attacked on the stairwell leading to the beach at Gray Whale Cove State Beach at approximately 4 p.m. Feb. 11. Police say the suspect is wanted on three charges, including sexual penetration with force, sexual battery by restraint and false imprisonment.

The suspect was last seen wearing a navy blue “spandex style” tight shirt and baggy cotton jogger pants. He was not wearing shoes or socks, but wore a black backpack at the time of the assault.

The sheriff’s office says the unidentified suspect is a “white male adult in his 30s,” who was slightly overweight with a “beer belly.” He was said to have dark brown hair and a medium length brown beard.
