On April 15, the city of fog turns 173, though the 7x7 peninsula has, of course, been the ancestral home of the Ramaytush Ohlone people for far longer than that. San Francisco’s date of incorporation, combined with the charming coincidence that 415 is our area code, has translated to an array of events to celebrate local pride.
In 2016, a group of SF-born and longtime residents hosted a public party at Dolores Park and assigned the 415 Day a hashtag and a tagline—(S)olidarity (F)orever—as a rallying cry against the breakneck gentrification laying waste to the city.
Since then, other annual parties have popped off, and the citywide holiday has even expanded to encompass restaurant and bar specials. This year, new Cal-Italian eatery Orafo will serve a Golden-Gate-hued blowtorched cocktail called “Karl the Fog”—a cheeky nod to the weather-obsessed Twitter account of the same name.
And there are at least five other 415 Day parties—more than one claiming to be the official celebration—planned across the city. The more the merrier, right? Here are our picks.

Showcasing an inner circle of Bay Area hip-hop talent, this party nabbed the official URL for 415 Day. In addition to dropping the 2021 Warriors anthem, “Big Steppin',” Bayview-native Stunnaman02 has often spoken out against gentrification and police brutality in San Francisco and made his acting debut in The Last Black Man in San Francisco. So it’s only fitting he would take the stage on 415 Day alongside fellow local rhymesters RBL Posse and Show Banga & Ronski.

Family Not a Group is a 17-member arts collective that includes Afterthought, Baghead and Ozer, and on 415 Day, they’ll bring together even more Bay Area talents for a day party on the patio at San Francisco legacy venue El Rio. If you didn’t get enough of Stunnaman02 at District Six, he’s headlining this function, too, joined by hyphy specialist AlienMacKitty, Mexican and Nicaraguan rapper Grand-O and many more.
3. 415 Day Pub Crawl

Bar bash pros CrawlSF have mapped out a 415 Day journey that begins—perhaps with more than a single drink—at Mayes Oyster House and continues on to McTeague’s Saloon, Lush Lounge, Barley, Route 101, DecoDance, California Jack's, Amsterdam Cafe, Wreck Room, El Lopo, R Bar and maybe a few other surprise stops. SF-themed costumes are encouraged.
4. Sazon Libre Day Party at The Endup

Here’s another party that claims to be the actual, for-real-this-time, official 415 Day celebration. For the third year, tropical bass party promoter Sazon Libre lights up the patio at The EndUp with an afternoon and early evening of Afrobeat, cumbia, dancehall, reggaeton and salsa featuring performances by Sake One, Lando 1, Knowpa Slaps and Murcutian.
5. The Oowap Pop-Up

A nondescript warehouse space in Peralta Heights, across from Potrero del Sol skate park, hosts this free family-friendly 415 Day celebration with appearances by hip-hop artists City Slikka, T-Bird, Lul JoJo and others, along with dozens of community groups, swag and food vendors.
