After a two-year hiatus, McLaren Park’s free outdoor music festival, Due South, will return to the historic Jerry Garcia Amphitheater this August, the San Francisco Parks Alliance announced this morning.

Noise Pop and the Parks Alliance will join forces with the city to bring a diverse lineup of musical talent to the park for three Saturdays, starting Aug. 27.

San Francisco post-metal/shoegazers Deafheaven headlines Due South’s kick-off concert; they’ll be joined by Oakland post-punks Marbled Eye. San Francisco-based singer-songwriter Thao (of Thao & The Get Down Stay Down) and local rapper Ruby Ibarra join musical forces on Sept. 17. And, beloved Los Angeles band Ozomatli will make the trek up from the City of the Angels to the City by the Bay, bringing their signature fusion of hip-hop, salsa, jazz, funk, merengue and more to the Jerry Garcia Amphitheater stage on Oct. 8 complemented by the cumbia-infused Afro-Latin sound of La Misa Negra.

Each concert will feature eats from local food vendors from 2 to 6 p.m., and the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition will offer free bike valet services.

All Due South concerts are free, but RSVPing is highly encouraged, and attendees can purchase reserved seating if preferred at duesouthsf.com. If you’re more into freebies, you can enter to win reserved seats and other prizes at the same website. A portion of proceeds from donations to the series benefits the SF Parks Alliance’s work on supporting the city’s green spaces.
