Halloween has come and gone, leaving fun-size candy wrappers and sagging jack-o'-lanterns in its wake. Thankfully, there are plenty of new and enticing restaurants where locals can treat themselves between now and Turkey Day. Here's the latest on the rooftop bar at the LINE boutique hotel, late-night cookies, Northeast Thai comfort food and more.

1. Rise Over Run

The Tenderloin
📍 33 Turk St., SF
☎️ (415) 523-9799

Yesterday, stylish SF newcomer the LINE Hotel raised the curtain on a 13th floor rooftop bar. With panoramic views of Downtown and Twin Peaks, Rise Over Run showcases tropical cocktails by Danny Louie, formerly of Mister Jiu’s, as well as burgers and other bar bites in the semi-indoor solarium. San Franciscans hesitant to brave the elements may be relieved to learn that the bar is equipped with heat lamps and a fire pit.

2.  Insomnia Cookies

Mission Bay
📍 1215 Fourth St., SF
☎️ (415) 496-0241

Students, night owls and potheads of Mission Bay, unite! Insomnia Cookies preheated the ovens at a third SF location near UCSF’s medical campus. Expect all of the familiar favorites—chocolate chunk, snickerdoodle and vegan caramel apple pie—served warm and ready to melt underneath a scoop of birthday cake ice cream or a brownie.

3. Pla Ra Thai Esan

The Marina
📍 2380 Lombard St., SF
☎️ (415) 757-0900

Farmhouse Kitchen alum Andy Nanta cooks up Northeast Thai specialties like mango duck curry and mok pla (steamed salmon wrapped in a banana leaf) at a new eatery near the Presidio. Chef Nanta emphasizes aromatic herbs like coriander and galangal root, which are traditionally used in Esan-style cuisine.

4. The Laundromat

Outer Richmond
📍 3725 Balboa St., SF

The former “Let’s Do Wash” coin launderette has been reborn as a full-service bagelry and pizzeria. Operated by two couples, one from the Balboa Theater and the other behind Santa Cruz’s Holey Roller Bagels, the Laundromat will eventually offer bagels and coffee by day and pizza and drinks by night.

5. Marina Submarine

Cow Hollow
📍 2299 Union St., SF
☎️ (415) 921-3990

After going dark for about a week while new owner Al Alhaj took over, this Cow Hollow/Marina standby for hoagies and heroes reopens this weekend with 14 new sandwiches, a coffee station and a wider variety of bread options. Alhaj recommends the Atomic, a grinder piled with hot pastrami, turkey, corned beef and hot peppers.
