San Francisco police said Saturday officers recovered a body in the water off Pier 22 1/2.

Officers responded to a report of a possible body in the bay at around 12:23 p.m. and called for medics, who determined the person was dead.

Police did not release further details, and the Chief Medical Examiner's Office did not immediately respond to an inquiry seeking the deceased's identity.

This is the second known time in as many weeks that officials recovered a body from the bay.

On the evening of May 6, a fire boat crew found the body of Nekita Wilson, 36, in the water by Pier 39. Wilson did not have a fixed address.

Earlier this week, rescue teams also pulled a man out of the water after he fell off a San Francisco pier near the Golden Gate Bridge while collecting cans.

Officials said the man was found 16 feet underwater and submerged for 46 minutes. The man was taken to a local hospital in critical condition and later died.
