One person is dead and seven others are wounded after gunfire erupted Monday evening in the 5900 block of MacArthur Boulevard in Oakland.
The shooting occurred just after 6 p.m., according to Kim Armstead an Oakland police officer and spokeswoman for the department.
OPD is investigating a shooting that occurred on January 23, 2023, in the 5900 block of Macarthur Blvd, just after 6:00 PM.

Police were dispatched to the scene to investigate after receiving an alert from the city’s ShotSpotter gunfire detection system. Police officers found casings but no victims were at the scene, according to a Facebook post from officials. The police department later found out about multiple gunshot wound victims who had transported themselves to local hospitals.
“At this time, we are aware of eight victims, one who is deceased and the remaining victims were listed in stable condition,” the department wrote on its official Facebook page. “The deceased victim’s identity is being withheld at this time pending notification to next of kin.”
A KRON4 report on the shooting indicated that the shooting unfolded in front of a gas station near the corner of MacArthur Boulevard and Seminary Avenue.
