A San Francisco man has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with a fatal shooting that left one man dead in Bayview-Hunters Point in August.

Shilo Mitchell, 35, was booked at the county jail Wednesday night after officers patrolling the Fillmore District recognized him from an outstanding warrant and took him into custody, according to the San Francisco Police Department and jail records.

On Aug. 4, officers responded to reports of gunshots in the 1000 block of Quesada Avenue, between Fitch and Griffith streets, and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound, SFPD said in a statement. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Homicide investigators took over the investigation and ultimately identified Mitchell as the suspect in the fatal shooting. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner did not immediately respond to The Standard’s request for information on the victim.
