In-N-Out Burger, the West Coast's iconic fast food chain, announced today that it will expand to Tennessee. This news marks the drive-thru's eighth state—the closest to the East Coast—but it won't be serving up Double-Doubles in Nashville until 2026.

Business Insider sniffed out In-N-Out's announcement this morning, noting that it takes the burger chain a while to expand into new states because the company is religious about following the quality control standards that founders Harry and Esther Snyder set out in 1948.

For instance, when In-N-Out expanded to Texas in 2011 and Colorado in 2020, it built out production and distribution facilities in those states and identified in-state bakers to make its signature sponge-dough buns.

In-N-Out is a third-generation family-run business and president Lynsi Snyder—Harry and Esther's granddaughter—said she's delighted to expand to the Volunteer State.

"In every decision I make, I always consider what my family would want," In-N-Out president Lynsi Snyder wrote. "I have no doubt that my grandparents, dad, and uncle would be proud of this decision to grow our associate family and serve even more amazing customers beginning in Nashville and the surrounding areas."

In-N-Out currently comprises 385 restaurants in California, Oregon, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Colorado and Texas. It opened its first shop in San Francisco in 2001.
