This Weekend: New Year’s Eve Parties

Just like the eggs at this Saturday’s brunch, New Year’s Eve can be served many ways. Some like their nights scrambled, some prefer things wet and runny. And yeah, those ridiculous “2022” glasses are cheesy—but who doesn’t like a bit of gooey gouda in their NYE omelet? 

With San Francisco doing a double-take on account of Omicron, events are being cancelled left and right. But we found a few that are on for sure.

Roll Into the New Year

Saturday, Jan. 1 @ The Church of 8 Wheels

Holiday ice skating at Embarcadero Center has been cancelled. But thankfully, The Church of 8 Wheels isn’t planning to hang up its boots. Their website’s all-caps proclamation reads: “YES WE'RE OPEN NEW YEARS DAY!!! GET TICKETS HERE!!!” Praise rollerblading Jesus!

Gatsby’s House 2022

The W San Francisco Hotel in SoMa invites New Year’s Eve revelers to get their Gatsby on. The party boasts two main dance floors: West Egg, where the nouveau riche DJs will be spinning fist-pumping Top 40 and EDM; and East Egg, where the blue blooded selectors will be dropping rootsy reggaeton bangers. Tickets start at $129, but you can fork out a whole lot more for premiere access to the “Bee’s Knees Exclusive VIP Ultra Lounge & Ballroom.”

This New Year’s Eve many people are struggling with a difficult question: Play it safe or simply let loose? Swedish electronic duo Galantis have made their choice clear. They are pressing forward with their New Year’s Eve party at Fort Mason. Plenty of those on the fence will undoubtedly be swayed by the open bar that comes with the price of admission.

Mayor London Breed has been known to grab a cocktail at this upscale Divisadero restaurant and bar—so you know they know how to turn up! Tickets are $25 at the door.

Darren Criss + SF Symphony

Glee and American Crime Story star Darren Criss was born in San Francisco and grew up in a musical family (his older brother, Charles, was a member of the indie band Freelance Whales). He joins the San Francisco Symphony to ring in 2022 with beloved tunes. Tickets start at $45.

New Year's Day Block Party

This one is a bit all over the place—in a good way! Burlesque, DJs, dancing and yoga. Say namaste to 2022 with some sun salutations. Tickets start at $30.
